By Land or by Sea – There are plenty of locations for you and yours to enjoy a frolicking time!
Here is a list of pet friendly places. Some require leashes while others don’t.
Bird Key Park – between Lido Key and the Ringling Bridge has plenty of room for (on-leash) dogs to walk and swim in Sarasota Bay. Take the Ringling Causeway to Bird Key. At the first traffic light (just before the bridge) there’ll be parking on the left side. This park continues under the bridge and around the other side with a protected grassy area and beach. In summer months, it is here you’ll see dolphins and manatees.
Sarasota’s Bay Front Park – “Season of Sculpture” With shaded walkways offer parking and access to Centennial Park where expansive green space is available to dogs on leashes. There’s even a friendly Tiki bar called O’Leary’s nearby. It is here that puppies and owners can enjoy a beautiful sunset, meet new friends and go off leash to catch a Frisbee from the restaurant’s sandy shore.
Directions: Cross the Ringling Bridge and go right on (US 41) Tamiami Trail. Take a right turn at the second traffic light into Centennial Park.
Venice – There’s a great “BEACH PARK” specifically designed for (off-leash) dogs and their owners. YES, this is where you can swim and sun TOGETHER! Go to Brohard Paw Park for details.
More Dog Parks – from Palmetto to Port Charlotte.
